Asian Institute of Management Remembers Alumnus and Professor Elenita Carpio-Panganiban

Elenita “Leni” Carpio-Panganiban, a member of the MBM (Master of Business Management) class of 1971, passed away on Sunday, 9 April 2023. She was eighty-three years old.

In her thirty-seven-year career as a professor, she also served as associate dean of the Asian Institute of Management. 

Former students such as Cat Herrera expressed their sadness on social media. Remembering the professor in a Facebook post, she wrote, “She was one of our mentors at AIM - we would have different professors who would lead and guide us - whether the MRR (thesis), Can group (aka Learning Team) or the WAC (written analysis of the case) paper. I remember from class discussions she was known for preferring case facts to support one's stance. Until this day, I still remember her words and keep them in mind. "Life is a series of trade-offs." is the foremost that I recall from the different lessons she imparted to my MM batch.”

Besides academia, Professor Carpio-Panganiban was also devoted to the pursuit of civil justice. She was one of the founding members of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity (FLP). Established by her husband, the retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban, it creates programs that support efforts by the government and business sectors in ensuring inclusive economic growth and expansion. It also grants scholarships to deserving students pursuing a Master in Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science (MS). 

Professor Elenita “Leni” Carpio-Panganiban is survived by her husband and children Marilen Yaptangco, Dr. Jose Artemio Panganiban III, Celine Hannett, AIM Professor Maria Theresa P. Manalac, Evelyn Reagan, and 10 grandchildren.
