Economist

Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of the Center, the main objective of this assignment is to lead research projects and provide general support to the Center’s research and technical assistance work on policies to promote competitiveness under the AIM RSN PCC - KAS program. This includes projects that are part of the KAS portfolio such as but not limited to local competitiveness and governance, sustainability, SME competitiveness and inclusive growth, education, human capital, and workforce development, and the World Competitiveness Yearbook. The Economist may also be assigned to handle research partnerships and projects with various external organizations such as government agencies and international organizations. In carrying out the various tasks outlined in this TOR, the Economist will provide analytical inputs and support to produce research studies and help prepare and facilitate events and other outputs for the Center. 

  • Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Masters, PhD) in economics, econometrics, statistics and/or other related fields. Candidacy to these degrees may be considered if work experience exceeds the minimum indicated below.

Minimum experience

  • At least four (4) years of experience in economic, development, and/or policy research; quantitative analysis, especially pertaining to statistical and econometric analysis of social and economic indicators; and skills in creating and maintaining statistical databases Publication of an empirical economic and policy research paper in a peer-reviewed journal is a plus.
