Mr. Aftab Ahmed is the Citi Country Officer (CCO) for the Philippines. Prior to this, he was the CCO/CEO for Hungary and Region Head for Hungary and the Balkan and Baltic Regions in Central & Eastern Europe.

Mr. Ahmed began his career at Citi as an Executive Trainee. In the three decades since, he has gained considerable US and international experience, after having lived and worked in 11 countries: the USA, Pakistan, Greece, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Germany, Taiwan, Singapore, Egypt, Hungary and now the Philippines. He has also been involved with Citi Franchises in a number of other countries through his cluster management leadership positions.

His financial expertise covers multiple disciplines including Business Banking, Corporate Banking, Correspondent Banking, Consumer Banking, Consumer Finance, Distribution, Operations & Technology (O&T) and Treasury. In his different business and leadership roles across multiple geographies, Mr. Ahmed has successfully contributed towards Country and Regional initiatives such as growing franchises, expanding the branch footprint, increasing the customer base and deepening client relationships, as well as protecting and growing portfolios.

An active advocate of helping students and young professionals enhance their leadership skills,  Mr. Ahmed has served as Chairman of the Dean’s Strategic Advisory Board for the Business School at the American University of Cairo. The Corvinus University of Budapest presented him with the Pro Facultate Award in 2014 in recognition of his support provided to the Faculty of Business Administration. In 2016, he received plaques of appreciation from the Asian Institute of Management and Ateneo Management Association. In December of the same year, he was likewise recognized by Enterprise Asia as the Outstanding Entrepreneur in Financial Services in the Philippines.
