The Asian Institute of Management held a memorial service for its Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Washington SyCip, on 25 October 2017. The service was attended by Mr. SyCip’s family, friends, and members of the AIM community.
“The passing of Mr. SyCip is a loss that will be felt deeply by those he left behind ― particularly the Institute he helped build,” said AIM President and Dean, Dr. Jikyeong Kang. “More than being a luminary in the business community, he embodied the image of the socially responsible leader who sought to make a positive impact on his community.”
Mr. SyCip was a firm believer in the power of education to uplift and improve lives. He passed away on 07 October 2017 while on a flight en route to Vancouver.
Those who paid tribute to Mr. SyCip during the service: Peter Garrucho Jr., Chairman of the Board at AIM; Napoleon Nazareno, former Chairman of the Board at AIM; Ramon del Rosario Jr., Vice Chairman of PHINMA Corp.; Ambassador Delia Domingo-Albert, former Foreign Secretary; Ambassador Jose Cuisia Jr., Mr. SyCip’s former co-Chairman of the Board at AIM and former Ambassador to the US; Mr. SyCip’s Senior Executive Assistant, Sylvia Sanchez; J. Carlitos Cruz, Chairman and Managing Partner of SGV & Co.; Dean Kang; and Mr. SyCip’s son, George SyCip.
