The Washington SyCip Graduate School of Business (WSGSB) recently conducted the Global Network Week (GNW) Program on Doing Business in Asia: Opportunities and Challenges During the Pandemic, held March 15 – 19, 2021. A total of 21 students from Universitas Indonesia, Business School, Renmin University of China, EGADE Business School, ICS Hitotsubashi, INCAE Business School, IIM Bangalore, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Seoul National University, UBC Sauder School of Business, and UNSW Business School participated in this year’s online edition of the GNW.
The GNW program on Doing Business in Asia explores the uniqueness and complexity of Asian business systems, appreciating the particulars of doing business in Asian settings particularly relevant to the current pandemic situation.
The AIM GNW was led by WSGSB School Head, Prof. Felipe O. Calderon, and Academic Program Directors, Prof. Raul P. Rodriguez and Prof. Jose Gerardo O. Santamaria. Program sessions were conducted by the following faculty, invited speakers, and AIM alumni:
An initiative of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), the Global Network Weeks allow students and faculty to pursue intensive study at another GNAM member school, in a focused course that leverages the perspectives, programs, and faculty expertise of that school. Alongside their counterparts from elsewhere in the network, students attend classes, tour local businesses, and meet with experts focused on current and emerging business problems.
“The course was really an eye-opener on Doing business in Asia. Being an Asian myself, I didn't know so much about my region.” ~ Student from IIM Bangalore
“From a professional coming from Latin America, the experience during the GNW at AIM was only of aggregated value. My knowledge of Asian business was far from accurate. Learning about the differences within Asian countries and bringing it back to my own for comparison is a huge opportunity. The quality of the professors and material was very high as well as the organization despite being online due to the pandemic. I fully recommend the program.” ~ Student from INCAE Business School
In addition to AIM WSGSB hosting the GNW on Doing Business in Asia, MBA 2021 students were also given the opportunity to participate in GNW programs offered by other GNAM member schools. Among those schools include, Business School, Renmin University of China, ICS Hitotsubashi, HKUST, IIM Bangalore, Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, Seoul National University, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, UBC Sauder School of Business, University of Cape Town, UNSW Business School and Yale School of Management.
