The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, recently presented AIM President and Dean Dr. Jikyeong Kang with the Asia Human Resource Development Award for the “Contribution to Organization” category.

According to the organizers, the award is given to individuals who built success on the back of innovative systems, processes, and practices, “which have impacted overall employee development and productivity with accompanying effect on the bottom line.”

In a ceremony held in Malaysia on 8 August 2017, AIM was cited for helping sustain the growth of a balanced management education with Asian ethical values and culture by developing professional, entrepreneurial, and socially-responsible leaders and managers.

Throughout its almost 50-year history, AIM has sought to instill in its students and alumni the ability and confidence to thrive in challenging, rapidly changing environments. The Institute achieves this by encouraging a more considerate, effective, and sustainable approach to business, which contributes to the well-being of its alumni’s families, companies, and community.

The Asia HRD Awards celebrates the excellence of champions who contribute to humane business growth and talent development. Officially launched as an independent initiative in 2003, with winners from only a couple of countries, the Asia HRD Awards has now become a prestigious annual event with the Hall of Fame comprising 197 recipients from 18 countries.

Among the 500 exclusive guests who attended the gala dinner was Assistant Foreign Affairs Secretary J. Eduardo Malaya, the former Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia. Malaya received the “Contribution to Society” award for cementing strong ties and sustainable people development partnerships between Malaysia and the Philippines.

Also in attendance were AIM Professor Junbo Borromeo, who received the Asia HRD Award for “Movers & Shakers” in 2016, and Dr. Haji Zulkifly Baharom, Board Member of the Malaysia Philippines Business Council and former FAIM Chairperson with his spouse, Hajah Zarina Ishak.
