MSIB Class 2018 recently presented innovation proposals to address issues faced by Barangay Poblacion, Makati, such as noise pollution, loitering, and solid waste disposal. The project kicked off the second intake of the Master of Science in Innovation and Business program on the heels of the award-winning pioneer batch, the Class of 2017.

MSIB is the Asian Institute of Management’s pioneering degree program aimed at professionals from various STEAM disciplines, which include science, technology, and agriculture.

The culmination of a week of fieldwork, interviews, and brainstorming, called Innovation Overture 2018, marked the beginning of the students’ innovation journey.

“[The students] will share the insights they have, the problems they identified, the solutions that they came up with, and how they might push for that solution moving forward,” explained Professor Matthew Escobido, MSIB Academic Program Director, before the students and representatives of Barangay Poblacion.

Officials from the barangay made up part of the judging panel alongside MSIB professors. The first MSIB class was also present to share insights from their own experiences and to comment on the proposals.

MSIB students are given the option of continuing their Overture proposal and making it their capstone project or pursuing them independently in coordination with the barangay.
