Members of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) recently completed a two-week course entitled “The Work of Leadership: Project Management for Development for the Philippine Air Force”. This was a three-way partnership between the PAF, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Zuellig School of Development Management Development Education Program (ZSDM-DEP), and TeaM Energy Center (AIMTEC) for Bridging Leadership (BL).
The “Champions of the Air Force” are comprised of 34 of the organization’s brightest and finest leaders. They come from various departments and stations across the country. The main goal of the course is for them to help plan, implement, and take ownership of specific Strategic Initiatives, which are included in their Plan Velocity, towards a more capable and credible Air Force responsive to National Security and development.
“This is a first for the Philippine Air Force, and I think that by equipping our Champions, the best of the best, we will achieve our goal of Developing the Future of the Philippine Air Force Today. I’m thankful to our Commanding General, LTGEN GALILEO GERALD R KINTANAR JR. AFP, who is also an AIM Alum, and to the PAF leadership for their continuous support”, said COLONEL RONIE D PETINGLAY PAF GSC, Chief of the Air Force Strategy Management Office.
Our ZSDM School Head, Prof. Kenneth Hartigan-Go said that he is delighted with the new partnership with the PAF. According to him, “We are very passionate towards Development, because as a School for Development Management, we have a great responsibility to our country to develop our people, and what better way to do it than to help equip the “Guardians of our Precious Skies”, quoting LTGEN KINTANAR, with necessary management tools and techniques.”.
The course was intended to help the members of the Air Force understand various project management tools and for them to have a broader view of leadership, management, and decision-making. Also involved in the success of this program were Program Director Prof. Raul P. Rodriguez, Prof. Manny de Vera and Prof. Nieves Confesor of TeaM Energy, and our esteemed Professors: Federico Macaranas, Antonio Ma. Perez, Matthew Escobido, Dynah Basuil, Ma. Carmen Testa, Jacinto Gavino, Maria Elena Herrera, Rajesh Nair, Maria Eulalia Herrera, Rene Domingo, and Ronald Chua. Resource speakers Col. Benjie Hao and Ms. Joselle Feliciano were also part of the two weeks.
The Graduation ceremony was held at the Asian Institute of Management Fuller Hall last October 9, where the Plan Velocity book was also launched. Present at the ceremony were LTGEN GALILEO GERALD R KINTANAR JR AFP, Commanding General of the PAF, Atty. Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro, Chairperson of the PAF Multi-Sector Governance Council, the rest of the leadership of the Air Force and across the Military, our very own President and Dean Jikyeong Kang, members of the faculty, and the TV-5 News team.
During the ceremony, President Jikyeong Kang challenged the Champions to have a “Call to Action” because the concepts they have learned in class will only come to life through their proper implementation and development. “LEAD, INSPIRE, TRANSFORM.”, said President Jikyeong, to successfully implement one’s learning, quoting the Institute’s new slogan for its 50th Anniversary.
This is just one example of how the Asian Institute of Management can partner with you in developing and training your leaders.
