MANILA, Philippines - The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) recently welcomed representatives from the University of Houston (UH) C.T. Bauer College of Business, Frank Kelley, Associate Dean; Joyce Williams, Program Director; and Paulo Acuna, Program Manager in a three-day visit from 11-13 November 2024. This visit further cemented the partnership behind the transnational double-degree program, combining a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Administration (BSDSBA) from the AIM Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Management Information Systems (BBA, MIS) from UH C.T. Bauer College of Business.
A highlight of the visit was the “CODE. PLAY. REPEAT. AGAIN!” event, held at the Aboitiz Tech Space. The event showcased the exceptional talents of the program’s freshmen, who presented innovative projects demonstrating their ability to harness data science for real-world solutions. From interactive dashboards to AI-powered tools, the students displayed a level of creativity and technical skill that left the UH delegation impressed.
The visit reinforced the program’s emphasis on fostering global connections and collaborative growth. Benchmarking meetings between AIM and UH leaders allowed both institutions to discuss shared goals and explore ways to further enhance the double-degree program.
The UH delegation also took the time to engage with students from various cohorts, including the classes of 2027 and 2028, inspiring them with ideas into the program’s global academic and career opportunities. An information session with AIM recruitment and admissions team gave prospective students and their families an in-depth understanding of the program’s unique features, such as its competitive curriculum, the option to complete the final year in residence at UH, and the potential for Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the U.S.
By combining the focus on innovation at the Asian Institute of Management with the business expertise of the University of Houston, the program is preparing students to lead in a data-driven future. The visit from the University of Houston delegation affirms this mission, inspiring both faculty and students to push the boundaries of what is possible.
