MAKATI, Philippines – In an effort to highlight the importance of sustainability in business, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) partnered with ACEN Corporation (ACEN) for a field visit showcasing ACEN's sustainability practices to international students enrolled in the Institute's Global Network Week (GNW) course, "The New Language of Business". The group included students from Seoul National University, Strathmore University, University of New South Wales, and the Institute’s own Executive MBA, International MBA, and Master in International Business Law programs.

The visit provided a glimpse into ACEN’s sustainability practices. ACEN's Chief Human Resources Officer JP Orbeta and Senior Vice President & Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability Irene Maranan shared ACEN’s innovative Energy Transition efforts. They emphasized ACEN's leadership in sustainability across the Asia Pacific region, detailing how the company integrates sustainability into its operations and corporate culture. The students on a brief tour of ACEN’s headquarters at the Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2, providing a tangible experience of ACEN's sustainability practices in action.

The primary goal of the company visit was to showcase how sustainability is integrated into the operations of leading corporations in the Philippines. ACEN served as a prime example, demonstrating their strategic approach to sustainability which is central to their business strategy. Their implementation of a robust Energy Transition Mechanism positions them as a pivotal player in the region's energy transition efforts. ACEN also forged strategic partnerships with the Rockefeller Foundation’s Coal to Clean Credit Initiative and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. These collaborations aim to implement the world’s first coal-to-clean credit pilot project.

The students' experience at ACEN was a highlight of the GNW program. Through these visits, students are given the blueprints on how to incorporate sustainability principles into various industries in their chosen countries. The hands-on approach, combined with the theoretical knowledge gained from classroom sessions, taught the GNW students a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate and lead in a rapidly changing world.
