AIM President and Dean, Dr. Jikyeong Kang, received two very special and very welcome pledges for scholarships last week, kickstarting the Institute’s Golden Anniversary scholarship campaign.
Mr. Jaime Del Rosario, Chairman and President of the Jesus V. Del Rosario Foundation, Inc. informed Jikyeong that he is pledging PhP 5M to award to outstanding Filipino candidates who wish to pursue postgraduate studies at AIM.
In the evening of the same day, Jikyeong received the second pledge, this time from AIM-SRF Trustee and MBM ’73 stalwart Alex Tanwangco, who recently celebrated his 69th birthday. Knowing exactly how to pay it forward, Alex told Jikyeong that he would pay in advance the tuition fees for five (5) EMBA students (a total tuition worth US $132,500 or approximately PhP 6.6 million), for which the Institute would provide scholarship certificates. Alex would like to grant these to deserving employees and relatives, as well as to those AIM has vetted for him to consider.
“On behalf of the AIM community, most especially its students and our candidates, I am grateful to Mr. Jimmy Del Rosario and Mr. Alex Tanwangco for their generosity,” Jikyeong says, adding that, “We know that sometimes all the best and brightest need is that extra financial support to get them to realize their goals which in turn, will get them to fully contribute to business in society. Messrs. Del Rosario and Tanwangco certainly understand that. We cannot thank them enough for their foresight.”
