Partners Benefit

Partners benefit from capstone projects with AIM students, leveraging their expertise, experiences, and access to mentors and qualified faculty. This is an efficient way to get outside input on pressing business issues our partners may not have the staffing or expertise to tackle alone. Additionally, involvement lets our partners preview and evaluate potential employees’ capabilities and suitability for their organizations.

Over the course of these programs, student teams work on digital and marketing strategy, strategic HR planning, channel strategy and development, redesign of digital marketing operations, employer branding and engagement, sustainability, and process review, among others.

International Master In Business Administration

The Action Consulting Project

The program optimizes students’ experiential learning by engaging them in a six-week action consulting project. This project revolves around tackling real-world business challenges posed by participating organizations. Teams of MBA students work to identify the issues and root causes, diagnose the business challenges, propose solutions, and create comprehensive implementation plans.

The action consulting project is strategically scheduled in Term 3, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in their projects after completing their core courses. Their efforts culminate with a compelling written report and an engaging presentation of their findings and recommendations. While the project does not include plan execution, the partner organization has the option of hiring talented students. It is important to note, however, that such opportunities can only arise after the students have completed their MBAs, and a separate work agreement must be established between the organization and the students involved.

The partner and the student team meet to finalize the Terms of Reference, fine-tuning expectations, deliverables, and the project timeline. A Memorandum of Agreement and a Data Outsourcing Agreement will be provided for the engagement. The partner will provide organization-specific data upon receipt of the signed non-disclosure agreements from student teams and mentors. They will also assign technical representatives who will work with the assigned student team from the initial study until the completion of all deliverables.

Partners should designate a primary contact for the student team. Ideally, the organization’s decision-maker should be available for calls, attend at least four student-team meetings with key personnel, provide constructive feedback, and meet with AIM faculty or the consulting manager to discuss project progress and address issues. Moreover, the AIM consulting manager will be the primary contact for the partner organization. The partner will cover the student team’s out-of-pocket expenses, including but not limited to travel to other locations as directed by the partner and the purchase of research reports.

Demo Day

The MIB Capstone Project spans three phases during the five terms. With students working on a product, process, or service, they can bring it to market during the insight phase. They can then prototype it during the ideation phase. Finally, at the implementation stage, a specific product, process, or service business plan is pitched to potential investors on Demo Day.

The MIB Demo Day is an annual event showcasing students’ capstone projects. At Demo Day, students pitch their venture ideas to potential funders in the hopes that their work will be adopted. These projects are carefully researched to provide innovative solutions to real-world problems through startups established by our students.

This event is the program’s culminating activity, showcasing the students’ attainment of the program’s learning goals and objectives.

Master of Science in Data Science

Data Science Consultancy Training

The MSDS capstone project is one of the program’s key features. It is a capstone activity where students use class concepts and skills to solve current business, organization, and government problems using data. In this exercise, MSDS students are trained as data science consultants. They work closely with world-class professors, full-time data scientists at ACCeSs@AIM, and domain experts as part of their training.

In 2019, this estimate was USD 10 million for 10 capstone projects. MSDS students become data science consultants through the program’s partnerships even while studying. At the same time, the program helps organizations innovate through data science and machine learning.

In 2020, the MSDS program received over 25 real-world use cases from various organizations and enterprises, 15 of which made it to the program portfolio. According to projections made by partners and key stakeholders, these projects could generate $40 million in revenue. Thus far, our students have completed 55 excellent capstone projects.
