The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) PhD in Data Science (PhD in DS) program is the first of its kind in the Philippines specifically made to assemble practitioners that can lead pioneering research in the world of data analytics. The program seeks to produce industry leaders in the era of Industry 4.0, where they will steer the course of emerging technologies with the capacity to shape human society.

Number of Credits:
- 10 credits equating to 100 hours of study
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Holds a Master’s Degree and has a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or its equivalent
- Strong academic background in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related fields
- Proficient in Python, R, or Java
- Must submit a research proposal
- Proof of English proficiency through TOEFL or IELTS certifications
- 5-7 years in a managerial position

Program Learning Goal 1:
The PhD in Data Science students must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the field of data science, a mastery of the research methods used in data science, and a commitment to the scholarly advancement of data science as a discipline.
Program Learning Goal 2:
The PhD in Data Science students must be able to conceive, design, implement, and adapt a substantial process of research using methodologies of data science to solve critical problems in research and/or innovation that span traditional disciplinary divides and have substantial implications.
Program Learning Goal 3:
The PhD in Data Science students must be able to demonstrate the capabilities of promoting and advancing the role of data science in technological, social, and cultural advancements of societies.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Scholarship
The AIM-DOST Scholarship for the PhD in Data Science program at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) offers full funding through the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI). As part of the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP), this scholarship supports aspiring data scientists in advancing research and expertise in priority science and technology fields, empowering them to contribute to the Philippines’ innovation landscape.
Eligibility
- Filipino citizen
- Not older than 50 years at the time of application
- With a return-of-service commitment (1 year for every year of scholarship)
- Dissertation must be in the priority areas identified by DOST
- PhD in Data Science must be pursued full-time (applicant should either resign or secure an approved leave for the program duration)
