Asian Institute of Management Sets New Standard in Cybersecurity Education with Industry-Leading Partnership
In an era when cyberattacks threaten organizations daily and cost billions in damages worldwide, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) is taking bold action to address the critical shortage of cybersecurity professionals.
Through a partnership with the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, Inc. (ISC2) – the world’s leading non-profit association for cybersecurity professionals – AIM has become the first academic partner of ISC2 in the Philippines. This breakthrough initiative combines the Institute’s Master in Cybersecurity (MCS) program with preparation for the gold-standard Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, creating a powerful dual-qualification pathway.
“This is a major milestone for AIM as we continue to provide industry-relevant education to help build cybersecurity capabilities in the country. Our partnership with ISC2 directly addresses the shortage of cybersecurity professionals by producing excellent and industry-certified graduates. Our students will be equipped with a globally recognized degree and globally recognized certifications, giving them more career opportunities in this rapidly growing field,” explains Professor Philip Kwa, FICD, CISSP, SID, CISM, CA, PMP, Academic Program Director of MCS.
This innovative program stands apart through its comprehensive approach. While pursuing the Master in Cybersecurity degree, students receive specialized training designed to prepare them for the CISSP examination, a credential recognized globally as a benchmark for cybersecurity excellence. This dual-track approach ensures graduates emerge with deep theoretical knowledge and practical, certified expertise.
“Our partnership with AIM is a vital component of our mission to equip the global workforce with essential cybersecurity skills. Participants will receive training across a broad spectrum of cybersecurity domains, preparing them to tackle security challenges with confidence. It has been a real pleasure working with Professor Philip Kwa on this project. His vision to support students and the business community is inspiring. It is a privilege to be part of the journey, supporting aspiring cybersecurity professionals by making it easier for them to secure jobs,” shares Alex Mortimer, ISC2 Academic Partnerships Lead.
ISC2, whose mission centers on strengthening global cybersecurity through workforce empowerment, selected AIM for its vision and excellence in practice-based education. The CISSP certification, requiring rigorous examination and verified field experience, sends a powerful signal to employers: AIM graduates are ready to tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges from day one.
As cyber threats continue to evolve and multiply, the Master in Cybersecurity program at the Asian Institute of Management sets a new standard in cybersecurity education – one that promises to transform how we develop cybersecurity leaders of tomorrow.
