MAKATI, Philippines – The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) recently marked an exciting milestone with the convocation of the Master of Science in Financial Technology (MSc in FinTech) Class of 2026. Held last Saturday, 25 January 2025 at the AIM campus, this event celebrated the beginning of a transformative academic journey for the incoming cohort of aspiring FinTech leaders. 

The ceremony was filled with inspiring messages from AIM President and Dean Dr. Jikyeong Kang, as well as keynote speaker Lito Villanueva, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC). Dr. Kang emphasized the Institute’s unique approach to education, stating, “T “The way we are going to teach, just like in any other programs, will make sure that your knowledge, skills, and experiences are not going to be outdated. We focus on grounding you in principles that endure, even as technology and applications evolve.” Mr. Villanueva highlighted the role of empathy in technological development, noting that, “Empathy drives innovation. It is the everyday Filipino that inspires us to do better every step of the way.” 

Manchester Metropolitan University’s (Manchester Met) Head of International, Faculty of Business and Law, Liz Warren, PhD; International Partnerships Manager, Poppy Denning; Senior Lecturer and International Lead, Joanne Bambrick; and Senior Lecturer, Yahya Goga, also flew in for the ceremony, greeting the new cohort as they embarked on their academic adventure. Head of the Washington SyCip Graduate School of Business (WSGSB) Professor Felipe Calderon, CPA, CMA, PhD, and Academic Program Director of the MSc in FinTech program Professor Daniel Brosby were also present, representing the full roster of experts AIM and Manchester Met provides students in this innovative program. 

A group photo captured the spirit of unity and excitement among the students, faculty, and guests. Special arrangements ensured that online students were included in this momentous occasion, showcasing the Institute’s commitment to inclusivity in a hybrid learning environment. 

The MSc in FinTech program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the dynamic world of financial technology. With a strong emphasis on global perspectives and innovation, the program promises an impactful journey for the Class of 2026.
