The Asian Institute of Management Opens its Doors to Potential Students in #AIMOpenHouse2024

Makati, Philippines – The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) demonstrated its commitment to shaping tomorrow’s global business leaders and changemakers during its 2024 Open House event, welcoming hundreds of professionals, including staff, faculty, and prospective students, on 17 November 2024. The event, themed “The Nexus of Global Leadership,” offered an immersive exploration of the Institute’s case method and participant-centered approach to management education in the digital age.

In his welcome address, Mr. Joel Gallanosa, Chief Financial and Operating Officer of AIM, emphasized the Institute’s role in continuously adapting and developing leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of the ever-evolving global business landscape. “AIM has evolved so much. Because of the changes in the world, we adapt to help our students, the industry, and the society, to also evolve. Before, we only had three [degree] programs but now, we have a total of 15 [degree] programs, and we will continue to grow,” he proudly shared.

The event’s highlight featured a compelling and engaging masterclass by Professor Erika Fille Legara, PhD, who holds the Aboitiz Chair in Data Science at AIM and serves as Managing Director and Chief AI and Data Officer of the country’s Center for AI Research under the Department of Trade and Industry. Professor Legara delivered a thought-provoking session on “AI and Data Strategy in Business,” exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in modern business practices.

In her presentation, Professor Legara underlined the critical importance of preparing and equipping people to become truly data-driven, highlighting how organizations can leverage technology to enhance rather than replace human capabilities. “Becoming data-driven is easier said than done, that is why you really have to understand how the business works. It is not just about implementing AI for the sake of implementing AI, it is understanding why you are doing it. Coming up with a robust Data and AI Strategy as an organization is not an option but an imperative.” she explained.
She also stressed that the Institute’s forward-thinking curriculum prepares AIM students to lead this integration, using data-driven approaches to make informed, precise decisions – enhancing their leadership and management skills.
Following the masterclass, the program showcased the different schools that make the Asian Institute of Management a vibrant and multifaceted institution. Each school presentation was led by respective School Heads: Professor Felipe Calderon, CPA, CMA, PhD of the Washington SyCip Graduate School of Business; Professor Olivier Roche, PhD of the Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management; Professor Christopher Monterola, PhD of the Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, and Professor Alberto Mateo, Jr. of the School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning. The School Heads provided an overview of each school’s diverse and prestigious program offerings.
Closing the morning session, Ms. Lady Ochel Espinosa, Director of the Integrated Marketing Communications Group at AIM, shared a message of gratitude for the presence of the attendees, “We are excited for you to have the opportunity to peep through the keyhole of what the Asian Institute of Management has to offer, and experience our commitment to academic excellence.”
The event continued with specialized breakout sessions where prospective students engaged directly with faculty members and program directors, gaining deeper insights into the Institute’s learning approach, global opportunities, curriculum, and financing options. Prospective students participated in one-on-one and group program consultations, interviews, and on-the-spot entrance examinations. The immediate impact of the event was evident as several attendees took the opportunity to initiate their enrollment process during the Open House.
