AIM and Cambridge University Press & Assessment Strengthen Partnership to Prepare Talent for an AI-Driven Workplace

As artificial intelligence and data-driven technologies continue to reshape the workplace, the need for professionals who can combine technical expertise with critical thinking, adaptability, and sound judgment is becoming increasingly important.

Against this backdrop, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), through its Career Services Office (CSO), formalized its partnership with Cambridge University Press & Assessment through a ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing at the AIM Executive Boardroom.

The partnership brings together academia and industry to strengthen connections between learning and employment, particularly in areas such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, cybersecurity, business, and finance.

The collaboration comes as organizations in the Philippines increasingly adopt AI and data-driven technologies, with employers seeking professionals who can work effectively with emerging tools while bringing strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills to the workplace.

Representing Cambridge University Press & Assessment at the signing was Robert Ritchie L. Calo, Country HR Head. AIM was represented by Lucille Jade Galvan, Director of the Career Services Office, and Prof. Rogemar Mamon, Academic Program Director of the Master in AI and Data Analytics program.

Connecting education with the changing workplace

In her opening remarks, Galvan highlighted the alignment between the missions of AIM and Cambridge University Press & Assessment, particularly as both organizations respond to changing expectations around skills and employability.

“Both are increasingly positioned around employability, skills, data technology, and helping people realize their potential. We are very honored that Cambridge Press actually considered AIM,” she said.

For AIM students and graduates, the partnership is designed to open avenues for greater industry exposure through recruitment activities, career conversations, mentoring, internships, and knowledge-sharing engagements. It also provides Cambridge University Press & Assessment with opportunities to connect with talent whose academic backgrounds align with emerging roles in data, technology, and business.

Building on a longstanding relationship

For Cambridge University Press & Assessment, the MOA also formalizes a relationship that has developed over the years. Calo noted that several Cambridge leaders and employees have participated in AIM’s academic and executive education programs, providing an existing foundation for deeper collaboration.

“I think this Memorandum of Agreement further strengthens the long years of these two organizations working together. This allows us also to live our mission when it comes to helping people pursue their potential,” Calo shared.

He also pointed to the potential for the partnership to open additional pathways for internships and employment, allowing AIM students and alumni to gain experience within a global organization while contributing their skills to Cambridge’s growing presence in the Philippines.

From agreement to action

For Prof. Mamon, however, the value of the partnership will ultimately depend on what follows the signing.

“The real measure of the MOA is not the signing ceremony; it is what happens after the signing. A document creates the framework; people create the partnership,” he said.

Prof. Mamon emphasized that meaningful industry engagement gives students the opportunity to move beyond theoretical learning and apply their knowledge to actual business and organizational challenges. Such experiences can help learners develop not only technical and analytical capabilities, but also the judgment, communication, adaptability, and lifelong learning mindset needed in a rapidly changing workplace.

Industry-academic partnerships can play an important role in helping learners navigate this transition by bringing classroom learning closer to the realities of the workplace and creating opportunities for students, faculty, and organizations to exchange knowledge and collaborate.

Preparing talent for what comes next

The partnership between AIM and Cambridge University Press & Assessment reflects a broader shift in how institutions can prepare talent for an evolving economy: by connecting academic learning with real industry experience and creating opportunities for students to engage with the technologies, challenges, and expectations shaping today’s workplace.

As AI adoption continues to grow, the partnership provides a platform for AIM students and graduates to strengthen both their technical capabilities and the human skills needed to apply them effectively.

For both institutions, the MOA is more than a formal agreement. It establishes a foundation for continued collaboration focused on turning education into meaningful professional experience—and helping the next generation of talent navigate, contribute to, and lead in an increasingly AI-enabled world.
