BSP and AIM Showcase Public Service Careers Driving the Philippine’s Digital Future

As the Philippines accelerates its digital transformation and maps out economic recovery, the need for top-tier talent in public institutions has never been more critical. This was the central theme of a recent joint information session hosted by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Career Services Office (CSO) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), titled “A Career That Shapes the Future: Join the Public Service.”

The event targeted advanced students and professionals, framing a career at the central bank not merely as a corporate role, but as a direct contribution to national resilience and financial inclusion.

Serving as the keynote speaker was Archellis A. Villena, Head of Information Technology Infrastructure and Operations at the BSP. Villena provided a behind-the-scenes look at the massive technological backbone required to keep the Philippine economy secure and stable. His insights highlighted how the central bank is actively deploying advanced infrastructure to support digital payments, bolster systemic risk management, and implement robust frameworks against evolving cyber threats.

The session challenged the traditional perception of public sector work, demonstrating that tech, data, and finance professionals at the BSP operate at the cutting edge of innovation.

By choosing public service, the organizers emphasized, aspiring leaders have a unique opportunity to build professionally rewarding careers while driving the structural reforms and digital safeguards that protect millions of Filipino financial consumers.

This initiative forms part of the ongoing commitment of AIM-CSO to bridge the gap between rigorous graduate education and global, real-world impact. Through targeted information sessions, career coaching, and industry mixers, the CSO actively supports students by expanding their professional networks and connecting them with top-tier employers. By introducing students to key institutional leaders like the BSP, the CSO ensures that AIM graduates are not only career-ready but are also positioned to take on leadership roles that drive meaningful societal transformation.
