New Academic Program Director Named for Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Administration & Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in Management Information Systems (BSDSBA & BBA, MIS) Program
MAKATI CITY, Philippines — The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) has appointed Professor Benjur Emmanuel “Gino” Borja as the new Academic Program Director (APD) for its Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Administration & Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in Management Information Systems (BSDSBA & BBA, MIS) program. His appointment takes effect on 16 June 2025.
Prof. Gino will succeed Prof. Michelle Banawan, PhD, who will take a two-year work leave after serving as APD since 03 January 2023. The Institute’s Office of the Dean expressed its gratitude to Prof. Michelle for her dedicated service and steady leadership. She is credited with laying a strong academic foundation that has positioned the program for sustained growth and innovation.
The BSDSBA & BBA, MIS program is the first of its kind in the Philippines, offered under the AIM-Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship and in partnership with the University of Houston, where students complete a double degree that includes a Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in Management Information Systems.
In his new role, Prof. Gino brings his expertise in analytics, business strategy, and technology. He is known for his practical approach to data-driven decision-making and digital transformation. His appointment is expected to continue advancing the program’s commitment to preparing future-ready professionals.
Highly regarded by students for his warmth, clarity, and mentorship, Prof. Gino is one of the most well-loved members of the AIM faculty. His approachable style and student-first mindset have made him a standout educator in and beyond the caseroom.
As the new APD, he envisions an even more globally connected experience for students. His plans include sending students to more international conferences and global internships, as well as intensifying efforts to prepare them for their senior year at the University of Houston—ensuring they are both academically and professionally equipped for the transition.
He also brings deep academic and research expertise in complex systems, video and image processing, geospatial analysis, data science, and artificial intelligence. These specializations continue to inform both his teaching and the strategic direction he sets for the program.
