AIM Student Honored as one of Asia’s Top Women Leaders

0127 PB SZSDM EMDRCM ACHIEVEMENT SPOTLIGHT Landscape

Makati City, Philippines – Joanne Angela “Marzie” Marzan, a member of the Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (EMDRCM) 2025B cohort, has been recognized as one of the prestigious Women Entrepreneur Review’s Women Leaders of the Year from Asia 2024. Marzie, a seasoned public relations and communications professional, has established a thriving career in the industry, grew her business while remaining true to her roots.

As co-founder and CEO of ALPAS Consultancy, Marzie has championed crisis communications and the use of social media to counter narratives that her clients face, whether it be through a negative Tiktok review, news article, or YouTube video. She works on crafting PR messages that strengthen her clients’ reputation and helps to address stakeholder concerns.

With ALPAS Consultancy, she focuses on emphasizing Filipino culture and supports various causes such as climate change mitigation. It was this latter advocacy that prompted her to join the EMDRCM program at the Asian Institute of Management, as she views the aim for a sustainable planet as the most critical issue of all. She expects to graduate with her cohort this year.

Women’s Entrepreneur Review has given this award to Marzie, saying in part that, “…in a world where PR is all about storytelling, women have proven to be the most compelling narrators.” Her role as CEO compels her to become a visionary leader, to further her education in disaster risk and crisis management, and to explore creative ways that reflect her Filipino-focused and sustainable brand of public relations.

Marzie’s dedication to her craft, innovative public relations campaigns, and commitment to crisis management have made her an example for women leaders in business. Now, with an Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management soon under her belt, she is strengthening her ability to anticipate risks, manage crises, and drive meaningful impact in her industry.
